The French company Stoeffler wanted to increase the value of its Premium Sauerkraut’s range by replacing its classical tray with innovative, enhancing packaging in line with the products’ quality. To this end, the company requested a made to measure solution from Faerch, the leading European food packaging specialist.
As a result of this close collaboration, a new pack took shape, making a clean break with the old one, answering perfectly the Alsatian’s specialties producer.
Concerning the appearance, the tray is reminiscent of the traditional Alsatian’s terra cotta terrine, especially used for the Baeckeoffe’s cooking. Faerch engineers did not only work on the authentic design, they developed, at Stoeffler’s request, a brown color specific to this product and a “soft” touch to depict pieces of pottery. Small traditional finishes and terra cotta imperfections are also noticeable.
The chosen material is MO-PP, in which talc replaced a part of the raw materials in the polypropylene’s production. The result is an unbending pack, which enable a thickness diminution and therefore is more respectful of the environment.

Beyond high quality and accompanying vegetables, the packaging reminds the traditional Alsatian Baeckeoffe terrine that permits a straightaway visibility in this traditional and valued universe by the consumer, but also bringing convenience by the microwave cooking.Thus, we can distinguish ourselves from core market and store brands products.
Design, specific color, touch, sharpness, technical characteristics… Our collaboration with Faerch has been profitable, because it has allowed us to develop a made to measure pack perfectly meeting our expectations.
