Innovative pizza box awarded the "Snacking d'Or" trophy

Faerch presents an innovative pizza box - awarded the "Snacking d'Or" trophy at the Sandwich & Snack Show in Paris.

Faerch, manufacturer of food packaging and European market leader in ready meals presents a new pizza box concept.  The base is produced in CPET for use in ovens (max 220°C) or microwaves, the lid produced in Clear APET. The concept is distributed in France by EDS Emballage.
This new “Pizza Box” packaging solution offers many advantages to producers and consumers.  Uncooked pizzas can be prepared and packed into the “Pizza Box” for cooking later by the consumer.
Cooked Pizzas can also be taken from the oven in the Supermarket or Take-away pizza outlet, and packed into the “Pizza Box” for safe transit and consumer reheating (without lid)

CPET makes cooking and reheating possible because it has a partially crystalline structure which retains its shape at high temperatures.

Specific advantages for Pizzerias :
This new packaging offers new opportunities for Pizzerias. They will now be able to offer “cooked” and "ready to cook" pizzas by home delivery or for takeaway leaving the consumer to decide when to reheat or cook their pizza.
Specific advantages for Supermarkets :
Fresh pizzas prepared in-store are becoming increasingly popular in France, with sales of between 200 and 2000 pizzas per store per week. This packaging allows the commercialisation of the on-shelf product by introducing a new concept in "ready to cook" pizzas.
Made in CPET containing rPET (recycled PET bottles), the base has the advantage of being able to go in a traditional oven (up to 220°C) , microwaves, and the freezer (to -40°C). Thanks to a base that is designed to promote an even cook, pizzas will retain all of their their taste and flavour. The “Pizza Box” is 100% recyclable.
